ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A 29-year-old man was arrested Thursday and accused of beating one man and hitting one other together with his automotive in what police referred to as a hate crime.
In line with investigators, Alexander Ortiz drove his automotive at a person strolling alongside Monroe Avenue Tuesday night. When the person bumped into his office close by, Ortiz allegedly obtained out of his automotive, adopted him inside, and beat him whereas yelling homophobic slurs. Ortiz then obtained again into his automotive, hit a pedestrian within the car parking zone, and fled.
Each victims had been hospitalized for what police mentioned weren’t life-threatening accidents.
Ortiz was arrested Thursday and brought to the Monroe County Jail. He was charged with assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, and failing to report a collision involving bodily damage. The assault cost, as a hate crime offense, was raised from a misdemeanor to a felony.
