Stephen Butchard has written a “sharp, fast-paced and brilliantly noticed” sequence, says Govt Producer Andy Harries of Left Financial institution Photos. Throughout eight elements, it follows Michael Kavanagh, performed by James Nelson-Joyce (Fowl), who has spent his whole life flooding the streets of Liverpool with cocaine from Columbia.
Michael works for a gang headed by his good friend Ronnie Phelan, performed by RTS Award-winner Sean Bean (Time). The drug baron is hinting at retirement, however Michael can be contemplating a future far-off from the lifetime of organised crime, having fallen in love with Diana Williams (Hannah Onslow).
Whereas a lacking cargo alerts an incoming assault, Ronnie’s son Jamie (Jack McMullen) decides he desires to inherit the household enterprise, and to ‘hearth’ Michael within the course of.
All roads result in a brutal energy wrestle with the lives of family members on the road.
Nelson-Joyce says: “It is an absolute honour to be part of this thrilling present. I knew from studying the primary episode that I needed to tackle this compelling story of crime, loyalty and above all, love.”
Additionally on the forged are Julie Graham will play Elaine, matriarch of the Phelan household alongside her husband Ronnie. Laura Aikman will star as Rachel Duffy, Kevin Harvey as Bobby Duffy, Saoirse-Monica Jackson as Cheryl Crawford, Mike Noble as Banksey, Bobby Schofield as Bonehead, Darci Shaw as Melissa Phelan, and Stephen Walters as Davy Crawford.
Saul Dibb, who directed the RTS Award-winning, compassionate true crime hit The Sixth Commandment, will direct all eight elements.
Harries added: “This Metropolis is Ours goes to blow the bloody doorways off.”
